1D fans tweet about self harm as Zayne quits

Hysterical fans took to Twitter when news broke that Zayne Malik had quit One Direction, with some talking about self harm.

While some begged their idol to change to his mind, comparing his departure to a death, some distraught fans talked about self harming and encouraged others to do the same with the hastag #Cut4Zayne.

As news broke of the boybander quitting 1D, more than 4,600 tweets a minute were recorded on this tag alone.

As ‘#AlwaysInOurHeartsZaynMalik’ and ‘#PleaseZaynBackForUs’ trended worldwide on Twitter, both celebrities and Directioners inundated the micro-blogging site with their thoughts on the departure which has rocked the showbiz world. 

‘#ReplaceZayn’, ‘RIP One Direction’ and ‘#blameperrie’, [Zayn’s fiance Perrie Edwards] also became trending topics.

Some fans even refused to believe the news, despite official statements from Zayn, his bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson and their management.
