Chris Cusiter returns to action after long lay-off

The former Scotland captain has shrugged off injury and will return for Glasgow Warriors in Italy this weekend.

The Scotland scrum-half, Chris Cusiter, will return to rugby for Glasgow Warriors this weekend.

The 28 year-old scrum-half has been out of action with injury for the last 11 months, but will make his comeback against Benetton Treviso in the Magners League on Saturday.

As reported by STV three weeks ago, Cusiter has delivered a welcome boost to club and country, with the 52-times-capped number nine shrugging off his injury.

“It has been a long time coming, and I’m really very happy to be back,” said Cusiter, who should be a pivotal figure in his country’s World Cup campaign later this year.

“It has been the longest 11 months of my career, with a lot of ups and downs, so I’m looking foward to the game.

“I’ve been in the gym, lifting weights, boxing and cycling, so it’s great to be out in the sunshine. I’m a rugby player, so it’s not much fun being in the gym after a while.

“I’m finding it pretty tiring, obviously having been out for so long, but I’ve tried to keep my fitness as high as possible, so that will hopefully benefit me. It’s going to take me a while to get back up to speed, but I’ve got to start somewhere and Italy is a great place to begin.”
