Harry holds no grudges

Harry Redknapp insists he bears no grudge towards the Football Association after being overlooked for the England manager’s job.

The FA is expected to hold talks with Roy Hodgson on Monday after identifying the West Brom boss as its only target to succeed Fabio Capello.

Redknapp, who was the overwhelming favourite for the job prior to the FA’s approach for Hodgson, claims he has no problem that he has not been approached for the England post and he has wished Hodgson all the best if he takes up the role.

Asked if he had any problem about being overlooked for the job, ” Redknapp told Sky Sports News HD: “No problem.

“I wish Roy, if Roy takes the job, all the best. I’ve got a great job here. I am going in today working with some fantastic players, had a great result yesterday and played ever so well.

“I am very lucky to be working at such a good club as Tottenham, very fortunate.”

“I am very fortunate, there’s lots of people who would give anything to have the job I have got here.

“I am just so lucky to be working here, working with fantastic players every day. For any manager, or for anyone who loves football, to be doing what I am doing at this particular club is great so I don’t feel like that.

“I suppose it has dragged on. It is no problem, I will just get on with my job here and hopefully we have got a good end to the season to come.

“We’ve had a great season so far and we have got three games to get that Champions League spot now and that is all my focus has ever been on, nothing has ever changed that.”

Redknapp believes Hodgson will be a success with England if he takes charge for this summer’s Euro 2012 finals.

“I like Roy, he’s a top man, he is a good guy and I am sure he will make a big success [of it],” continued Redknapp.

“I still think England has got great players, some fantastic players in this country, some young players coming through and some great experienced players so I am looking forward to the European Championships.”

Redknapp admitted he was in the dark over any talks over a new deal at Tottenham, with his current contract set to expire at the end of next season.

“I don’t know anything about that, that’s up to the chairman. I have never spoke to him and I don’t go pushing him for contracts, if he wants to talk to me that is fine,” concluded Redknapp.
