Pro Bowl to take place in Hawaii next season
The NFL have confirmed that the Pro Bowl will take place in Hawaii next season.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell had hinted the all-star game could be scrapped after last January’s exhibition drew criticism for a lack of quaility and competitiveness.
Many of the game’s biggest draws opted not to take part, but NFL officials hope next season’s clash between the AFC and NFC will feature more intensity.
“We have had many discussions with the players in recent years about the Pro Bowl and they recognise that the quality of the game has not been up to NFL standards,” said NFL executive vice president of football operations Ray Anderson.
“We look forward to working with the players toward the goal of improving the competitiveness of this season’s game.”
NFL Players Association president Domonique Foxworth added: “The players believe that the Pro Bowl is an important tradition.
“We worked hard with the league to make sure the best players in the NFL are honoured for their achievements on the field.”
