Carrie Diaries may introduce Sex and the City characters
As we gear up for the premier of The Carrie Diaries, it has been reveled that the original Sex and the City characters could appear in the show.
Carrie showrunner Amy B Harris told The Hollywood Reporter that while the CW drama’s only current link to its parent series is Carrie herself, the likes of Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte could appear in future seasons.
“I didn’t want to do baby Muppets where we meet all our girls right off the bat as little versions of themselves,” Harries explained. “[But] I have been thinking. I have some ideas about how I think each of them would come into the universe, for sure.
“I really wanted the audience to get used to the young Carrie Bradshaw and her world and her group of friends. As the seasons go on, God willing, I definitely have some ideas about how she’d meet her friends.”
However, Harris revealed that she would be less keen to have actors from Sex and the City play guest roles on The Carrie Diaries, since it would “break you out” of the reality of the series.
“I’m not sure how it would work,” she admitted. “I would obviously be honoured if they wanted to appear in some way, but I’d have to come up with some very meta episode.”
Of original Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) making a possible cameo, the writer added: “I don’t think so. Maybe if she had a flash forward. In my mind, I haven’t gone there.”
The Carrie Diaries premieres on The CW this Monday at 8/7c. Watch a preview below:
