Oscar Pistorius granted adjournment in murder trial

Oscar appeared in a South African Court this morning

Oscar Pistorius has been granted an adjournment in the murder trial of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Returning to court in South Africa, the pre-trial hearing in Pretoria lasted less than 20 minutes and seen the paralympian granted freedom until 19 August 2013.

A packed court room seen the 26-year-old arrive clean shaven, wearing a black suit, a blue shirt and a tie.

Sky’s Correspondent Alex Crawford, in Pretoria, said he looked “pretty fit and quite controlled”, as the state’s request for the case to be adjourned until August 19 was approved by magistrate Daniel Thulare.

Pistorius’ bail was extended on the same conditions.

Ms Steenkamp, 29, was shot dead through a locked bathroom door at Pistorius’ home in a secure compound on Valentine’s Day this year.

The athlete has admitted shooting her but claims he mistook her for an intruder.

Prosecutors maintain he killed her intentionally, knowing she was behind the door when he fired four times with a 9mm pistol.

Pistorius has been seen in public only twice since being freed on bail in March.

He was photographed on his practice track in March and reportedly visited a Johannesburg restaurant with friends in April.
