Radio 1’s Big Weekend a roaring success as Katy Perry closes the event
Katy Perry closed Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow with a ROARING performance in-front of 50,000 screaming fans.
Closing the Main Stage of the two-day festival in Glasgow, the Roar singer, took to the stage in a metallic two piece, surrounded by armed Egyptian warriors draped in glow in the dark outfits.
After a few moments of cheering from the crowds, Katy emerged from the floor of the stage shouting “Glasgow” before singing her hit single, Roar.
Proving herself every inch the diva, Katy changed her outfit 5 times throughout her hour long set – most notably was her red Egyptian inspired two-piece that left very little to the imagination.
As she emerged to sing her recent single, Dark Horse, Katy had the crowd whipped up into a frenzy before showing off her dance moves.
She went on to sing an array of top hits including, ‘Kissed A Girl’, ‘Wide Awake’ and ‘Part of Me’.
As she entered the stage for a reflective moment, Katy dressed in a floor length black and white gown, taking a moment to tell an excited crowd how she “appreciated how they had all waited to see her, joking how it was a school night n all.”
She also made reference to Glasgow’s “weather patterns”, however no amount of rain could have dampened the atmosphere as the crowd sang along to ‘The One That Got Away’ followed by ‘Unconditional’ which was met with a sea of mobile phones lighting up the crowd.
Katy ended her set with ‘Firework’, dressed in an exaggerated structure, firework patterned dress, the singer belted out her hit tune, as the cities skies lit up with fireworks of their own and the crowd went wild.
