Arsenal set to make offer for Swansea City’s Ashley Williams
Arsenal are reportedly set to make a £3million bid for Swansea City captain Ashley Williams.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers of centre back Williams, tried to bring him to the Emirates Stadium last summer, but now the time may be right after Williams asked to leave the Welsh club.
The Swans refused to sell, but in a dramatic twist, Williams has now turned down the offer of a new contract and asked for a move away.
The news has alerted Arsenal, who are on the lookout for another defender to add to their ranks, and Arsene Wenger is prepared to make a £3million bid.
Williams has a year left on his Swansea contract but he has told the club he will walk away for free 12 months’ time if he does not get a transfer away now.
