Lynda Bellingham loses her battle with cancer
Lynda Bellingham has died aged 66.
Lynda, best known for her long-running role as a mother in the Oxo TV adverts, died in her husband’s arms yesterday.
The actress and presenter had been battling colon cancer, which later spread to her lungs and liver.
Bravely, Lynda decided to end her treatment on August 13 as she didn’t want to see her family witness much more suffering, with a final dream of spending one more Christmas with her family.
Her agent, Sue Latimer, spoke on behalf of her family in a statement, she said: “Lynda died peacefully in her husband’s arms yesterday at a London hospital.
“Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff for their tremendous care and support.
“Actor, writer and presenter – to the end Lynda was a consummate professional.”
Lynda has spoken about her illness in her memoir ‘There’s Something I’ve Been Dying To Tell You’.
In her final appearance on Loose Women – set to air this Wednesday – she opened up about her illness and spoke about her last wishes and final days with her family.
In an emotional message, she told Loose Women viewers: “Grasp it all, don’t be afraid, enjoy the bits you can and tell your family you love them while you have the chance.”
The star leaves, husband Michael, 59, two sons, Michael, 31, and Robbie, 26, and stepson Bradley, 21.
