The Inbetweeners confirm split
The boys from The Inbetweeners have confirmed their split.
The stars revealed they are parting ways now that they have finished promoting the comedy sequel.
The quartet, whose second film opened in cinemas earlier this summer, said that there are no plans to continue the series.
“There’s no third film,” Simon Bird told The Sun. “This is genuinely our last interview ever. Ever, ever, ever.”
“It had to end at some point.”
Joe Thomas quipped that the end of The Inbetweeners was akin to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
“Physically, unfortunately, we’re ageing. The body clock is ticking,” he commented. “We’ll never have another job like this. We’re all a bit similar in temperament – and we’re all a bit weird.
“I feel very content in the company of these three and that is quite a beautiful thing.”
The Inbetweeners began as an E4 sitcom in 2008 with Bird, Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison starring as four hapless secondary school teens.
The movie spinoff, released in 2011, broke box office records to earn more than £57 million. This year’s sequel took in £40 million in ticket sales.
The Inbetweeners 2 will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on December 1.
