Muse and Foo Fighters to play Radio 1’s Big Weekend

Muse and Foo Fighters have been announced as the headliners for Radio 1’s Big Weekend 2015.

The two-day annual music event will take place in Norwich over the weekend of May 23-24 and features some of the biggest names in the business.

Muse will headline the Main Stage on Saturday, May 23 with further performances from Florence + the Machine, 5 Seconds of Summer, David Guetta, Ben Howard, The Vaccines, Fall Out Boy and Charli XCX.

“I’m very excited to play,” said Muse’s Matt Bellamy.

“The last time we played Big Weekend, for us it was a disaster, so I can’t wait to make up for it on this performance.

“I’m really looking forward to coming back and doing a great show. I’m pretty sure that we may unveil another new song that we will play for the first time, which is pretty exciting.”

Snoop Dogg will take to the In New Music We Trust Stage on the same day, preceded by Rudimental, Jess Glynne, Hozier, Years & Years, Ella Eyre, Slaves, Mallory Knox and Circa Waves.

Foo Fighters will top the bill on Sunday, May 24 after performances from Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, Rita Ora, George Ezra, Clean Bandit, Olly Murs and Imagine Dragons.

Jamie T will head up the In New Music We Trust Stage on May 24, preceded by Alt-J, Sigma, Catfish & The Bottlemen, Jungle, James Bay, SOAK, Raury and Lower Than Atlantis.

“I’m really excited – I can’t wait to come out. I don’t really think we’ve ever played there before so I’m looking forward to it,” said Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

50,000 free tickets for Radio 1’s Big Weekend were snapped up last month in just 40 minutes, with the majority of the passes going to residents in the surrounding area.

Radio 1’s Big Weekend will be broadcast live on Radio 1, Radio 1Xtra and streamed in vision on the official Radio 1 website.

Highlights will also be broadcast live on BBC Three, with all performances available after the weekend on the Radio 1 channel in BBC iPlayer.
