Danny Cipriani held on suspicion of drink-driving
Danny Cipriani was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a 5am car crash.
The England rugby stars black Mercedes was involved in a collision with another car in Chelsea, West London, early yesterday morning.
Police held the World Cup hopeful at the scene and took him to a nearby police station.
He was given a breath test before being released on police bail until a future date.
Cipriani has not been charged, and police refused to say whether his breath test found him to be over the drink-drive limit.
A Scotland Yard spokeswoman said: ‘The cars involved were a silver Toyota Prius and a black Mercedes C63.
‘The driver of the Mercedes, a 27-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
‘He was taken to a west London police station where he was later released on police bail.’
The crash came just hours after Cipriani scored 33 points in a man-of-the-match performance at Twickenham that helped England XV to a resounding 73-12 victory against Barbarians.
Cipriani, who once dated model Kelly Brook, is hopeful for a place in the England team for this year’s Rugby World Cup after impressing at the weekend in the match.
In 2013 he suffered concussion after being hit by a bus while on a night out with team-mates.
