Mike Tyson to launch Las Vegas show
Mike Tyson will be launching a new one-man show in Las Vegas next month.
The ex-boxer will perform a monologue about his life in Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth – Live on Stage.
Of his hopes for the show, Tyson revealed to Reuters: “I hope people are entertained, and happy. I hope they get to know certain things. My story’s not pretty. There’s lots of ugly stuff – not knowing if my mother ever loved me, or who my father was.”
Much of the show will focus on Tyson’s childhood, including the differences between him and his older brother, who became a doctor as the teenaged Tyson fell into a life of crime.
Earlier this month, Tyson also pitched an autobiographical TV series called Da Brick to HBO, directed by Spike Lee. HBO declined to pick up the show.
At 20 years old, Tyson became the youngest ever world heavyweight champion, but ran into numerous legal problems throughout his career, including a 1992 conviction for raping teenage beauty queen Desiree Washington.
Since the end of his boxing career, Tyson has gone on to make cameos in several television shows and films including Entourage, Brothers and the Hangover movies.
He was recently confirmed for a role in the upcoming Hangover 3 alongside stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms.
Mike Tyson: Undisputed Truth – Live on Stage will begin its run on April 13 at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and ends on April 18.
