Jessie J shows her playful side and opens up about her change in style

She rose to fame singing Do It Like A Dude but Jessie J looks very much like a lady in a recent photoshoot with American Glamour magazine.

Jessie ditched her usual catsuits and trainers for the shoot, which saw her show off a more natural look for one image.

Jessie – real name Jessica Cornish – wore her hair down in a tousled wavy black bob as she threw her head back with a large grin on her face.

And while she’s brightened up the charts with her popular tracks, she also brightened up the photo spread for the May issue.

The 24-year-old wore a bright green crocheted dress with a nude slip underneath, and even her lips were flamboyant with a slick of red on them.

The singer opened up to the magazine and discussed her changing style – mainly as a result of her penchant for wigs.

She said: ‘It’s so tough to explain to people. When you have half an hour to be ready at four o’clock in the morning, you don’t have time to get up and glue in extensions or blow-dry your hair.

‘A hairdresser who did my hair said, “You, my darling, have something that we call ‘successful’ hair,” which is basically battered hair that’s split and falling out in the back because you’ve had to blow-dry it every day. I don’t want my hair falling out, so I wear wigs!’

But it’s not her success in the charts or her looks that have helped Jessie be so confident – she has credited her family with giving her such a good outlook on life.

She added to the magazine: ‘You know what it is? I have such an amazing mom and dad who have been married for 32 years, and my sisters always made me feel like I was amazing. No one ever tried to suppress who I wanted to be. I never got embarrassed.

‘Even last night, at the after-party, me and my dad were up dancing when no one else was. I think the best way to have confidence is not to allow everyone else’s insecurities to be your own.’

And the pop star didn’t just open up about her beauty routine for the U.S. publication – she also discussed her sexuality.

‘For me, I want it to be less about sexuality and more about being comfortable in who you fall in love with,’ she revealed. ‘If I meet someone and I like them, I don’t care if they’re a boy or a girl. You should never, ever apologize for anything that makes you happy.’

She continued: ‘The frustrating thing is that if I was with a guy right now, I’d be [considered] straight. But If I was with a girl, I’d be gay.’

But Jessie has revealed she is currently ‘single’ and added that ‘music is the love of my life right now’.
