Adam Sandler signs up for Tonka Truck movie
Adam Sandler is joining in the toy movies craze – the funnyman is bringing Tonka trucks to the big screen.
Sandler’s movie company Happy Madison Productions is teaming up with executives at Sony Pictures and toymakers Hasbro to make the family-friendly animated film Tonka, inspired by the popular children’s truck brand.
A Sony spokesperson says, “In its 65 years, Tonka has become more than a toy or a brand – Tonka trucks are a rite of passage for kids all around the world. We look forward to creating a family-friendly motion picture that brings the Tonka experience to life.”
Sandler’s Tonka follows in the footsteps of other toy-themed releases including Transformers and Battleship. Sir Ridley Scott is also working on a big screen adaptation of the board game Monopoly, while a Stretch Armstrong film is also in the Hollywood pipeline.
