Alesha Dixon previews the MOBOs

Looking a million dollars, three time MOBO awards host, Alesha Dixon was on hand to lift te veil on preparations for tonight’s MOBO awards in Glasgow.

In an elegant black trouser suit, she dismissed questions about why Music of Black Origin awards should come to Glasgow, saying that it was good to get out of London

“Everything seems based in London”, she said. “We really enjoyed being in Liverpool last year. And all the artists love playing in Scotland”.

Under pressure from host Michelle McManus, Alesha assured everyone that was not just people being polite to Scotland but really what people felt aobut the reception they got when they came to play in Scotland.

It is one reason why venues like the Barrowlands in Glasgow constantly get voted among the top venues in the UK.

And Alesha also pointed out that in Emeli Sande, Sccotland had a young black artist on the up and up. “She’s a brilliant song writer” she said.

Among the main nominees tonight are Jessie J with five nominations, just ahead of Wretch 32, Adele and Tinie Tempah, who are each shortlisted for four awards.

The awards take place at Glasgow’s SECC, with US star Jason Derulo and singer Alesha Dixon hosting the event.
