American Idol: Nigel Lythgoe denies Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj feud

American Idol’s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe has denied rumours of a feud between new judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj .

Mariah Carey signed up to join the Fox show in July and according to reports was less than pleased with the addition of Nicki Minaj to the judging panel.

Recent reports claim the pair clashed during filming on Sunday, however Mariah and exec producer Lythgoe have been quick to deny the feud.

“Rumour has it we have a ‘cat-fight’ on #AmericanIdol,” Lythgoe tweeted.

“WRONG! 2 Forces of Nature have ‘collided’ in a good way. Smart, witty and ingelligent.”

When asked if she and the rapper were seeing eye-to-eye, Mariah laughed off speculation, saying: “How are we gonna feud in two days? A feud takes a little longer to spread out [than that].”

“It’s fun, it’s music, it’s singing, it’s laughter,” she added, while Minaj chuckled along with her, looking amused at the beef rumors.
American Idol is due to return to Fox early next year
