BBL: Newcastle Eagles beat Durham Wildcats to stay unbeaten
Newcastle Eagles maintained their perfect start to the British Basketball League season with a 99-75 win against Durham Wildcats.
Joe Chapman was the standout performer for Newcastle, draining eight three-pointers in a total tally of 30 points, while Charles Smith added 22 points and Damon Huffman scored 18.
Chapman scored 25 points in the first half alone as, after a tight first quarter, the Eagles surged into a 56-24 at the interval.
Newcastle then went on an 11-0 run at the start of the second half to effectively kill the game off as their lead peaked at a huge 43 points.
Visitors Durham did eventually hit back in an attempt to make the scoreline respectable, finishing the contest 24 points adrift as the Eagles fell just short of the century mark.
Brad Guinane led the way for the Wildcats with 19 points while Andrew Keister grabbed a huge total of 16 rebounds.
