BBL: Surrey Heat and Glasgow Rocks through to quarter finals
The quarter-finals of the BBL Championship play-offs were finalised at the weekend after wins from Surrey Heat and Glasgow Rocks.
The Heat earned a 101-99 overtime victory against Plymouth Raiders and the Rocks crushed bottom side Mersey Tigers 90-57 on the final day of the regular season.
Both teams finish level on 42 points, but it is the Glasgow side who claim third place and a play-off with Plymouth by dint of a better head-to-head record.
Surrey face the fifth-placed Worcester Wolves, whose victory over Plymouth the previous day ensured they finished on 40 points.
Regular-season winners Leicester Riders defeated Newcastle Eagles 86-75 for their 30th win in 33 games. Riders now face London Lions, who qualified for the play-offs thanks to a winning basket with 0.3 seconds left on the clock against Manchester Giants on Friday.
Eagles, the defending BBL play-off champions, line up in the first stage of the play-offs against Sheffield Sharks, who were 85-72 winners against Cheshire Phoenix.
Manchester ended their season with a 114-92 win over Durham Wildcats.
