Worcester Wolves moved back to the top of the BBL Championship after they edged out Leicester Riders 69-62.

Alex Owumi led the scorers with 20 points as the Wolves, trailing 47-43 after the third quarter, turned things around in the final period to record the victory.

Zaire Taylor also chipped in with 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists as the Wolves handed last season’s treble winners their first defeat at home since February 2012.

Elsewhere, Durham Wildcats beat Glasgow Rocks 85-72 in the day’s other game with 15 points from Ralph Bucci and 19 from Danny Huffor.

Bucci fell just short of a triple-double, dishing out 10 assists and pulling down nine boards in addition to his points haul.

Sunday saw Plymouth University Raiders, Cheshire Phoenix and Manchester Giants all take home the win, while Newcastle Eagles advanced to the BBL Cup semi-final after defeating Glasgow Rocks 81-69 on the road.

Plymouth Raiders moved into sixth in the BBL Championship with an emphatic 119-72 victory over Birmingham Knights, as Donald Robinson led the team to victory with 27 points.

Raiders were 11 ahead after the first period before stretching their lead to 24 at the halfway point.

Knights were never in the match as Raiders moved to within two points of the four teams tied for second in the table, meaning the Knights are still searching for their first victory.

Reggie Middleton and Victor Moses scored 22 points each for Cheshire Phoenix who earned the third victory of the season, outlasting the visiting Durham Wildcats 75-68 in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, Manchester Giants did not have any trouble against Surrey United, easing to a 102-60 victory at home in Manchester, with Stefan Gill and David Aliu scoring 27 and 26 respectively.
