Catherine Zeta-Jones back in treatment for bipolar disorder
Catherine Zeta-Jones has checked in to a centre to get additional treatment for her Bipolar II disorder.
The 43-year-old actress checked into a treatment centre on Monday according to TMZ and is expected to complete a 30-day program.
The celebrity website claims to have spoken to a source close to the actress who said the treatment is proactive and that she has not had a relapse, they explained: “It’s maintenance.”
“Catherine has proactively checked into a health care facility,” said her rep.
“Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.”
A source insisted to People that the decision to enter the facility “has always been part of the plan”.
“There was no big problem,” the insider said.
“This was just a good time to do it. She is in between projects.”
Zeta-Jones previously admitted that she was “sick” of talking about her bipolar disorder and said that she didn’t want to become the “poster child” for the condition.
“I never wanted this to come out publicly,” she noted.
“It came out and so I dealt with it in the best way I could, and that was just saying, ‘Look, hey, I’m bipolar’.”
The Side Effects star previously sought help for the condition in 2011 when she checked into a clinic for a brief stay.
