Cheryl on course for fastest-selling single of 2012
Cheryl Cole’s new track Call My Name is on course top the charts and become the fastest-selling single of this year.
The song – the first to be taken from her new album A Million Lights – is on its way to selling 100,000 copies just three days after it was released, according to the Official Chart Update.
Call My Name, which was produced by Calvin Harris, has already shifted 97,000 copies and if it manages to sell more than 128,000 by this Sunday it will surpass DJ Fresh featuring Rita Ora’s Hot Right Now as 2012’s fastest-selling single.
Sales of over 142,000 will topple Gary Barlow’s Sing from its spot as the biggest-selling number one of the year so far.
Barlow, who topped the charts last weekend with The Commonwealth Band, falls to three.
Flo Rida stays at two with Whistle while Rudimental’s Feel The Love featuring John Newman is another non-mover at four.
Coldplay and Rihanna’s duet Princess of China moves up from right to five.
Cheryl is the only new entry in the Top 20 with Justin Bieber making a dent in the Top 40 with new single As Long As You Love Me featuring Big Sean, which charts at number 24.
The Voice’s Tyler James enters the chart with Higher Love at 30 while Trey Songz makes a comeback with Heart Attack at 36.
Meanwhile, Gary Barlow and The Commonwealth Band’s album Sing is facing stiff competition from Usher’s Looking 4 Myself in second place and Amy Macdonald’s Life In A Beautiful Light at number three.
