Chris Brown handed over to US federal marshals
Chris Brown has been handed over to US federal marshals, who will take the singer to Washington, DC for his upcoming misdemeanor assault trial.
Marshals took the singer on Wednesday from a Los Angeles jail, according to spokeswoman Laura Vega.
The 24-year-old has been in jail since March 14 and is accused of hitting a man outside a Washington hotel in October with his bodyguard.
Brown violated his probation while in a rehab facility for breaking three internal rules, leading to his ejection and immediate arrest.
Federal prosecutors have only just been given the go-ahead to send Brown to Washington, where all serious criminal cases are handled.
According to E! Online, Brown is due to be transferred to DC on Monday.
“It is the most expeditious and convenient method for all parties,” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James R Brandlin ruled yesterday, before cancelling a hearing.
If found guilty of the charges, Brown could face a maximum sentence of 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.
