Dr Luke denies Sony Music is ending their partnership
Dr Luke is denying reports Sony Music will end his contract after the Kesha rape controversy.
Kesha has accused the producer of sexual misconduct and rape – both of which he has denied in court – however the producer has denied the music label will end their working partnership with him in response to the #FreeKesha social media movement.
A spokesperson for the mega-producer told Billboard that rumours of a rift with Sony are “not true” in the wake of an avalanche of press reports to the contrary on Wednesday.
Initial reports indicated that Sony Music would have to reach some sort of financial agreement with Dr Luke to avoid a breach of contract lawsuit.
Thousands on social media and celebrities such as Taylor Swift, Adele, Lady Gaga and Demi Lovato have rallied behind Kesha in her fight to be freed from her Kemosabe Records contract.
This latest development comes two days before members of the #FreeKesha movement are due to protest at Sony Music’s New York heardquarters.
Demonstrators plan on turning over to Sony more than 411,000 signatures demanding the ‘Tik Tok’ singer be freed from her Kemosabe contract.
Sony has previously denied that it has the ability to the release her from Kemosabe.
