Example set for Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow
Example will take to the Radio 1 Big Weekend stage in Glasgow next month.
Clean Bandit, Lorde, Sam Smith and London Grammar have also been announced for the In New Music We Trust Stage at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow.
Zane Lowe announced the line-up, which will see Kasabian and Example headline, on his show on Monday night.
Kasabian, who will perform on the Sunday, said: “Dear Radio 1 and Glasgow, we are going to keep you up all night.”
Acts including Sub Focus, Klaxons and Katy B have also been confirmed.
Zane Lowe also revealed that Bombay Bicycle Club, The Kooks, Twin Atlantic and Wilkinson will be playing on the Saturday.
Meanwhile, You Me At Six, Gorgon City and Chvrches will all appear on Sunday before Kasabian.
Other acts already confirmed by Grimshaw include One Direction, Lily Allen, Pharrell, Kings of Leon and Rita Ora.
Ben Cooper, controller of Radio 1 and 1Xtra, said: “It’s a phenomenal line-up, probably the best in the world this year, in one of the world’s great music cities.”
All 50,000 tickets for Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Glasgow Green were given away earlier this month inĀ 35 minutes.
DJs Annie Mac, Pete Tong and Zane Lowe will kick off Big Weekend with an outdoor party.
They will be joined by some of the world’s biggest DJs on the evening of Friday 23 May to host the event for 14,000 music fans live from George Square.
The festival will take place on 24 and 25 May at Glasgow Green.
