Facebook announce Timeline improvements

Facebook has announced a host of improvements for its Timeline.

The social network’s latest update introduces a cleaner layout, a dedicated section for apps and various developer-focused enhancements.

Posts will now appear on the left of Timeline, while other activity such as music, photos and video content will appear on the right.

Apps will be given more prominent placement when the new layout is introduced, appearing in the left column of Timeline as well as on the ‘About’ page.

Music, movies, TV shows and books can now be organised into redesigned sections on the ‘About’ page, alongside photos and friends.

Finally, improvements to the Open Graph simplify the setup process for developers by removing the need to configure common actions, and enables them to preview news feed stories before they go live.

The news follows last week’s announcement thatĀ Mark Zuckerberg’s firm isĀ overhauling its news feed with a view to becoming the world’s “best personalised newspaper”.

Facebook will roll out the Timeline changes over the coming weeks.
