Facebook redesigns mobile applications
Facebook has altered the design of its mobile application, changing the way photographs are displayed by the service.
The social network’s iOs and Android apps have taken on a similar layout to Instagram, with photos now appearing three times larger in the news feed.
“Starting today, we’re rolling out an improved design for posts in the news feed on your mobile phone. Now photos are up to 3x larger, and all posts will fill your mobile screen from edge to edge. The new design will be available on iOS, Android and m.facebook.com,” said Facebook in a statement.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg singled out the company’s mobile apps as a top priority for 2012during a presentation to investors in Palo Alto, California, ahead of the firm’s forthcoming initial public offering (IPO).
Facebook struck up a deal to acquire Instagram in a buyout worth $1bn (£629m). Zuckerberg has pledged to keep the photo-sharing service running as a standalone operation.
Zuckerberg’s company upped its shares from between $28 (£17.30) and $35 (£21.60), to between $34 (£21.20) and $38 (£23.70), placing its valuation above $100bn (£62.2bn), ahead of its stock market floatation.
