Georgina Lennon sits down with Rocks player Gareth...
“It feels awesome to be back,” says an excited Gareth.
“It’s my fourth year with the Rocks and I’m really looking forward to seeing what the season will bring.”
For a player who started his career by chance at the Rocks open tryouts in 2005, Gareth has proven himself to be an essential part of the squad, securing a place in the starting five last seasons.
“I had a great season last year and I aim to improve on that this year.”
“I feel I have improved year after year but as an athlete I believe I can always do better,” says Gareth.
And with an almost full new team this season, Gareth says there are a number of guys on the bench that will push and encourage him to be the best he can.
“We have a lot of talented guys on the team this year and we’ve come together well, which we’ve shown already with two comfortable wins earlier this month.” “We’re off to a good start and long may it continue,” says Gareth
“We’ve come so close in the past two seasons to winning something so hopefully with this new team we can finally do it.”
Gareth has had a relaxing summer, swapping the basketball court for the white sandy beaches of the Dominican Republic.
“It was great to relax and get away for a while, but I’m ready to get back to work now.”
“We’ve been training twice a day and are ready to play hard, but most of all we’re looking forward to getting stuck in and winning some trophy’s.”
