Georgina Lennon sits down with Rocks player Marc Pratt...
It was love at first sight – or bounce - for SAMG Verve’s Scottish Rocks player, Marc Pratt.
Before he was introduced to basketball, Marc had been involved in football, athletics and had even donned a GI suit, mastering the arts of Karate and Jujitsu – earning himself an orange belt in karate and brown in jujitsu.
“I was experimenting in different sports before I started playing basketball, but as soon as I bounced that ball I completely fell in love with it,”says Marc.
“It relates to that saying ‘love at first sight’ but for me it was more like love at first bounce.”
Marc has been settling in nicely at the Rocks and he thinks it’s been quite a comfortable transition.
“I have been settling in at the Rocks quiet well,”says Marc.
“The team has a great set of guys with different talents and I think it is a well put together team for the most part and that we have the potential to do great things.”
The Rocks got off to a triumphant start this season, however it would seem the winter blues have set in, following a run of devastating loses.
Marc believes this is just a bump in the road and that although they’ve hit a couple of barriers, his team are a lot better than the past few weeks have shown and still have everything to prove.
There have been some emotional games that we feel we should have won, but I definitely believe that we can bounce back from this road block and get back to playing with the same intensity that we did in the beginning stages of our season.
“The points scale is very close and we are a great team, so I think it’s very achievable to get back to the top of the table,”adds Marc.
When not on the court, Marc is a self confessed movie addict.
“I love watching movies – it’s one of my favourite hobbies,” says Marc.
“I have many movies that I watch continuously – The Pursuit of Happiness is my favourite.
“I’m also a huge fan of the TV series Heroes and Supernatural.”
Playing ball brings great joy to Marc, who for the past fifteen years has been perfecting his craft. But he admits it wouldn’t be the same without the fans cheering him on.
“The fans support is what keeps me going.
“I love playing in front of them as much as they love to watch us play,” says Marc.
“The fans are the essence of basketball and it’s one of the reasons I still love to play.
“Thank you to you all,”adds Marc.
