In true Scottish style, the Galaxy after show party was rocking
with performances from new Scottish pop hottie, Alex Gardner and
a surprise song or two by Australian pop sensation, Gabriella Cilmi
Indie sensation and newly crowned Scottish Fashion Icon, Paulo
Nutini spoke candidly about his win, saying: “Woohoo I won…. I’ll
keep this beside my bed and look at it every morning.”
“I’ve never been to a fashion awards ceremony or anything
fashion before but it’s been great fun.”
Tessa Hartmann, founder and producer of the Scottish
Fashion Awards said: “Tonight the Scottish Fashion Awards have
once again proudly showcased and celebrated the best of the country’s
fashion talent - talent that can be seen taking over the industry all over
the world, in every role – from models to designers, photographers,
hair stylists, textile designers, and more.” “The event has proved yet
again that Scotland’s so-called ‘fashion moment’ is in fact no such
thing – Scots are ruling the runways and they’re not going anywhere. “I am extremely grateful to all our sponsors and international guests
for supporting this special anniversary year. Scotland has never seen
so much glamour in one night – that’s for sure!”

Celebrating their 5th anniversary, the Scottish Fashion
Awards was attended by the fashion world’s front row players,
including A-List celebs from LA, London, New York, Paris and
Milan.
Celebs included X-Factor’s chart-topping Diana
Vickers, supermodel Jade Parfitt, Scottish singing sensation
Paolo Nutini, International pop star Gabriella Cilmi and male
model David Gandy – the adonis from the Dolce & Gabbana
adverts - who flew in especially from Milan to attend the
ceremony.
The who’s who of the fashion industry were also in
attendance, with the likes of Dolly Jones (editor of Vogue.com)
Hilary Alexander (Fashion Director of The Daily Telegraph)
Paula Reed (Style Director of Grazia) and Brian Duffy
(President of Ralph Lauren Europe) all there to see the cream
of the home grown crop honoured for their achievements in the
international fashion industry.
Brian Duffy, President of Ralph Lauren Europe, said: “It is great to be back in Scotland for such an auspicious and
indeed very glamorous occasion. I am thoroughly impressed
at the calibre of this year’s nominees, from the textile brands
to designers and up and coming talent. The Scottish Fashion
Awards provide an important and now international platform
for nurturing creative and innovative fashion talents from
Scotland.” He added: “These kind of opportunities are
invaluable to up and coming young brands. “Being from
Glasgow myself, it’s incredible see such a diverse range of
innovators hailing from Scotland and I’m delighted to be part
of it in my role as a judge.”
With Scotland firmly on the global fashion map,
there was a wealth of talent on display from the nominees
which included Scotland’s catwalk kings, Graeme Black and
Jonathan Saunders. Also in attendance and recognised for
their contribution to fashion was rising star Holly Fulton who
won Young Designer of the Year, accessories winner William
Chambers, and home-grown beauty, Scottish Model of the
Year, Lisa Omand.
Other big winners included Jonathan Saunders, who won
Scottish Designer of the Year and Jett Sweeney, from Edinburgh
College of Art, who won the Graduate of the Year, sponsored by Marks & Spencer. As part of her prize, the high-street chain will make and
sell a dress designed by Sweeney in their Limited Collection range.
Speaking of her win she said: “It will be amazing to see my dress in
Marks & Spencer,” she said. “I imagine it will be totally surreal.”
Hosted by MTV presenter Laura Whitmore, the event
included a VIP dinner and a spectacular runway show from Swarovski,
with Paris based Nathalie Colin, Creative irector of Swarovski,
styling the show.
Nathalie Colin, Creative Director of Swarovski said: “Joining the jury has been a real honour for me and a responsibility I was delighted to fulfil. “Swarovski has always been upportive of emerging talent of which there has been an abundance of this evening - I have been totally impressed by the immense creative talent from the nominees and of course the worthy winners.” She added: “As we have added the Scottish Fashion Awards to our red carpet calendar it was only fitting that we created a few unique pieces specially for this evening – a Saltire encrusted Kiosque bag, which is one of our iconic products and a Saltire Nirvana Ring. “This is my first visit to Scotland and I’ve been very impressed by what I’ve seen. I’d say this is the most stylish red carpet in the world.”
