Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley goes incognito at Coachella

He’s best known as the clean-cut Dan Humphry on hit US TV show Gossip Girl, but as Penn Badgley hit the Coachella Festival over the weekend with girlfriend Zoe Kravitz, he couldn’t have looked further away from his on-screen alter-ego.

The 25-year-old actor certainly blended into the crowd with his long curly hair, scruffy ponytail and unkempt beard as he and Zoe soaked up the sunshine at the second weekend of the festival in Indio.

Penn’s outfit also left a lot to be desired, as the actor wore a long striped vest top, teamed with a pair of khaki-coloured shorts and black plimsolls.

Perhaps Penn is just enjoying some time off from playing Dan in Gossip Girl, before the cast return to the set to begin shooting the sixth and final season of the show.

Since the cast finished filming season five, Penn has been working hard on other projects, including playing the lead role of Jeff Buckley in a biopic about the musician – Greetings From Tim Buckley.

Talking about the movie, which also stars Imogen Poots and Kate Nash, Penn said: ‘Creatively, it showed me something through the music, that was specifically in the realm of acting, that was amazing for me. I mean, I was excited about the music, but I actually learned something as an actor.’

Penn added that he was hoping to move away from his Gossip Girl fame, adding: ‘It was a transformative, impossibly beautiful, wonderful experience for me.

‘I hope to move forward with something that I can be equally passionate about… but I recognise that will be difficult.’
