HBO show ‘Girls’ gets Sky Atlantic air date
Lena Dunham’s award-winning comedy Girls has been given a premiere date by Sky Atlantic.
The US hit will launch in the UK with a double bill on Monday, October 22, it has been confirmed.
Created by Dunham, Jenni Konner and Judd Apatow (Bridesmaids, Knocked Up), the show picked up its first Emmy for ‘Outstanding Casting’.
The show centres on the humiliations and troublesome love lives of Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna, 20-somethings who live in New York.
Dunham stars Hannah, a wannabe writer, while Alison Williams stars as Marnie, Hannah’s roommate, who has an actual job and an actual boyfriend.
Jemima Kirke plays Jessa, “a live-and-let-live bohemian”, who has had plenty of jobs and boyfriends.
Mad Men actress Zosia Mamet completes the main cast as Shoshanna, Jessa’s cousin who aspires to a Sex and the City lifestyle and who is obsessed with ‘women’s issues’, gluten-free foods and sex-centric self-help.
