James Arthur denies being dropped by Syco

James Arthur has denied reports that he has been dropped by Syco.

The singer took to Twitter to respond to claims that his record label sacked him after controversy about a song on his new rap mixtape.

“As far as I know I am still with syco but I am exclusively signed to Sony. People look too deeply into the media circus. It’s about music,” he tweeted.

Simon Cowell’s record label was said to have terminated Arthur’s contract after he included lyrics such as “I’m gonna blow up your family like I’m a terrorist” in his All The World’s A Stage mixtape.

According to The Sun on Sunday, the track ‘Follow the Leader’ was the last straw for Syco after a series of controversial outbursts from the star, including the use of homophobic lyrics in a rap and comparing himself to an “exploited” killer whale.

‘Follow the Leader’ includes the lyrics: “Look at what you do to me, I’m crying over stupid s**t/ You’re such a f**king homophobe, wish I’d never let you in/ To think that I was thinking maybe I should let you live/ I’m gonna blow up your family like I’m a terrorist.”
