Jessie J to return to ‘The Voice’ UK
Jessie J will return for the second series of The Voice UK, it has been reported, despite having scheduled a tour for the same time the BBC singing contest will be broadcast.
Question marks had arisen over whether the LaserLight singer would return to the judging panel following reports that she struggled to cope with the pressures of the show, coupled with the fact she will be embarking on a nationwide tour in the spring.
It seems Jessie will be back for another batch of vocal judging however, with a source saying: ‘Jessie has signed on the dotted line and will definitely be back for another series.
‘She did find some of it tougher than she expected but the positives outweighed the negatives so she’s chosen to come back.
‘Now she knows what to expect, Jessie is determined to enjoy it more next year, so she’s already excited about getting started.’
The Voice’s debut on UK shores was marred by declining viewing figures as the series went on, though BBC bosses have stood by the ratings and pointed out last week that the average rating was 9.2 million per episode.
The insider added to the Daily Star: ‘Producers are convinced Jessie is the main reason ratings were so high.
‘She is the coach everyone was talking about and she’s the one who divided opinion and gave the show some attitude.
Wannabe pop stars have already begun applying for The Voice 2013, with filming on auditions set to begin in January.
