Madonna suffers whiplash after Brits fall
Madonna has revealed that she suffered whiplash after she fell at the Brit Awards on Wednesday night.
The star was pulled down some stairs during her Brits performance of her new single ‘Living for Love’ when the tire on her Armani cape got stuck around her neck.
“So here I am marching in like the Queen, I got to the top of the stairs and I pulled the silky string and it wouldn’t come undone.
“I didn’t hurt my butt but I hurt my head,” Madonna said during filming on The Jonathan Ross Show.
“I had a little bit of whiplash – I smacked the back of my head.
“I had a man standing over me with a flashlight until about 3am to make sure I was compos mentis.”
Madonna credited her horse riding ability for managing to avoid a serious injury.
“I ride horses – I know how to fall,” she said.
Explaining why the accident happened, she added: “I was told to tie my cape and start much further back and I had to walk further and everyone was worried my cape was going to slide off so they tied it really tight.
“My two lovely Japanese dancers, they basically strangled me off the stage. I could either be strangled or fall, and I chose to fall.”
The star looked visibly upset speaking about the incident and added that she will never be wearing a cape ever again. She also completely denied accusations that the fall was a planned publicity stunt.
Madonna’s new album Rebel Heart will be released on March 9 and you can watch her interview on The Jonathan Ross Show Sat 14th March.
