Man City lose Kompany red card appeal
Kompany ban stands
The Football Association has dismissed Manchester City’s appeal against Vincent Kompany’s red card he picked up against Manchester United.
Kompany was handed a straight red for his two-footed challenge on Nani during the FA Cup third round clash at the Etihad Stadium by referee Chris Foy.
City were furious with the decision and immediately confirmed their plans to appeal against the red card for their captain.
However the FA confirmed that an Independent Regulatory Commission had dismissed the claim.
Kompany will now serve a four-match ban as, together with the statutory three-match suspension, he gets an additional game because it is his second dismissal of the season.
The Belgian, who was been a star for City this term, will now miss both legs of the Carling Cup semi-final against Liverpool, as well as the Premier League games with Wigan and Tottenham.
