Mark Wright may miss Strictly tour

Mark Wright has revealed that he may miss the start of the Strictly Come Dancing tour due to a back injury.

The presenter told Lorraine Kelly that he injured his back and neck in the gym earlier this week, but hopes to be fully recovered in time for the opening show in Birmingham on January 16.

“I was in the gym just two nights ago and I’ve really damaged my neck and back. The tour starts next week so I’m hoping I’ll be okay – fingers crossed!”

Looking back on his Strictly experience, Wright said that he had to put his personal life “on hold” because of the demands of the competition.

“It was hard for me because I couldn’t dance for toffee so I had to put in 12 to 14 hours a day, every day,” he said.

“My personal life was on hold… I didn’t get to see my friends much, so it was a tough few months, but I loved every minute of it and I’m glad I gave it my all.”
