Matt LeBlanc revealed as Top Gear co-presenter
Matt LeBlanc was unveiled as the new co-presenter of Top Gear.
The Friends actor will appear alongside Chris Evans and The Stig in the new-look show.
“As a car nut and a massive fan of Top Gear, I’m honoured and excited to be a part of this iconic show’s new chapter. What a thrill,” said Matt.
LeBlanc is best known for playing Joey Tribbiani in long-running US sitcom Friends, where he starred alongside Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox.
The actor appeared on the original Top Gear in 2012 and set the fastest-ever time for their ‘Star in a Reasonably Priced Car’ segment. He set an unbeaten lap time of 1m 42.1s in a Kia Cee’d.
Chris Evans, who took over the show last year, today welcomed the world-famous actor alongside him.
“Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear. Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year,” he said.
Alan Tyler, the BBC’s Acting Controller for Entertainment Commissioning, added: “Matt is a class act and a brilliant signing for Top Gear.
“He is a self-confessed car fanatic with a passion for the programme. I’m really looking forward to watching Chris and Matt bring the all new show to our audiences.”
