Miguel lands on top of a fans head at 2013 Billboard Music Awards

Miguel is usually know for his smooth, sexy tunes, but at last night’s Billboard Awards he crashed into the crowd of fans, landing on a female admirer to cushion his fall.

The 27-year-old singer tried to hurtle himself over a group of fans during his performance but his long jump fell short and he clobbered a young woman.

During his spirited performance, Miguel had executed a few spins and the splits before attempting his ill-fated stage leap.

The Sure Thing singer tried to jump over a group of people swaying to his song but failed to clear the crowd and inadvertently performed a flying leg kick on a fan worthy of the WWE ring.

His left thigh struck a dark-haired young woman and violently cracked her against the stage as he landed on her head and settled on his rear.

The woman disappeared from view after the blow, however the RnB star was unfazed and carried on singing, putting his arm around a blonde woman as he continued the song.

Speaking backstage after his performance, an embarrassed Miguel said: “Well, I think it’s kind of clear what happened.”

“But I’m very happy to bring my new friend, Khyati, we just met . Unfortunately we did not meet under the best circumstances, but I think we’re okay.”

The young woman seemed to take the injury in stride, looking thrilled to be backstage with Miguel and even dropping a pun when asked what she thought of him.

“I Adorn him,” she said.

Miguel later posted a message on Twitter about the incident, saying “got caught up in moment, thank goodness Khyati is okay”
