NBA Round Up: Spurs get off to a flying start in Western Conference finals

The San Antonio Spurs kicked off the Western Conference finals with a 105-83 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies at the AT&T Center on Sunday.

Tony Parker had 20 points and nine assists, while Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green also made notable contributions of 18 and 16 points respectively.

The Spurs were always in the ascendancy after racing to a 31-14 first-quarter advantage – and although back-to-back three-pointers from Quincy Pondexter helped the Grizzlies cut the deficit to six points, San Antonio pulled away.

The best-of-seven series resumes with game two in San Antonio on Tuesday night.

Indiana Pacers advanced to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time since 2004 with a 106-99 victory over New York Knicks at Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Saturday night.

Lance Stephenson’s play-off career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds helped the Pacers rally from 92-90 down early in the fourth quarter.

Carmelo Anthony scored 39 points for the visitors, but it was not enough to prevent the Pacers from clinching the best-of-seven series 4-2.

Indiana will face Miami Heat in the conference finals.
