Ne-Yo denies copying Game’s album

Ne-Yo has denied copying the title name of the Game’s album. The R&B singer’s forthcoming LP is named R.E.D – a title which bears close resemblance to The Game’s 2011 release The R.E.D Album.

Ne-Yo told TMZ that he was not seeking to make money off Game’s success when choosing the name for his latest offering.

He said: “No… I don’t feel like I ripped off The Game’s album… as I was doing the album, [the original title] The Cracks in Mr Perfect just didn’t make sense any more, it didn’t fit any more… however, R.E.D – Realising Every Dream – did.

“It actually wasn’t even brought to my attention that that was the name of The Game’s last album until I came up with the name.”

Rapper 'The Game' Game’s R.E.D. Album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Ne-Yo added: “Until The Game comes up to me and says he has a problem with it, I don’t care what people think.”

He also pointed out that he’s not the first artist to inadvertently use another artist’s album title, adding: “Jay-Z did The Blueprint and so did KRS-One.”

Game – whose real name is Jayceon Taylor – said last month that he does not hold a grudge against Ne-Yo over the album title.
