As Ne-Yo prepares to drop his upcoming album R.E.D. on November 6 he took time out of his busy schedule to talk about working with Jay-Z and Beyonce, his hopes for a collaboration with Barack Obama and touring the planet.

 Who are your current favourite artists right now?

I’m really digging 2 Chainz, that’s my get up and go album. It has really great       energy.  Frank Ocean is another one I’m really into right now, he has a different take on RnB with some elements of old music mixed with some new stuff.

And finally, Lana del Ray – I’m a huge fan, really digging her right now.  I’d call her ‘boutique’ – which basically means she’s not commercial and some people may not get it – but I think she’s great.

How was it working with Jay-Z and   Beyonce?

Did more ands on with beyonce than jay, in studio with j – what amazes me about him is how he doesn’t write anything down..which is incredible when break down one of Jay-Z’s songs and look at  at the number of double and triple etadras he uses in lyrics…that it all in here is incredible..really speaks to his intellegane! I’ve tried it but just not very successfully

Working with beyonce is def some of the most useless I’ve ever felt..reason being she don’t need help, is that god she doesn’t need it..went for tea + song was done..

Who would you like to collaborate with?

Barack Obama! He’s not answering his phone right now..maybe the election is taking up all of his time (Vote Obama)..but we gona get to it once he’s back in the White House.

Can we expect a tour with this album?

I plan to touch the whole planet with this tour. I plan on touring the whole world with this album and am going to do everything in my power to get to each and every one of you!

The opening track on the new  album, R.E.D. is ‘Cracks in Mr Perfect’ what can you tell us about those cracks?

The cracks are simple mistakes that us a human beings make.

We’re all going to make mistakes in life, it’s what being human is, but as celebrities we’re not allowed to make a mistake.  When  a celebrity makes a mistake the whole world has something to say about it. I mean I understand it… but basically letting folk know yeah I’m a celebrity and an artist, but firstly I’m a human being. That’s what important!
