NFL announce London 2014 dates
The NFL have announced the dates for three regular season matches to be played at Wembley Stadium as part of the NFL International Series in 2014.
The first match pits California against Florida as the Oakland Raiders host the Miami Dolphins on September 28 in Week 4 of the season.
Week 8 sees Atlanta Falcons host Detroit Lions on October 26, followed by Jacksonville Jaguars hosting America’s team, the Dallas Cowboys on November 9.
The 2014 International Series sees three regular season matches played in the UK for the very first time after the success of this year’s double-header which saw attendance figures total in excess of 167,00 people.
Season tickets, which will allow fans to watch all three matches and save at least 20% over the cost of individual tickets, will be the first batch of tickets available to UK NFL fans.
They will go on sale at Tuesday, December 3, 10am until Thursday December 5, 9am and will be made available exclusively to fans who purchased 2013 International Series season tickets.
Season tickets in Club and Premium Club sections will be available from 10am on December 5, and all NFL fans will be able to purchase season tickets from 10am December 10
Individual tickets for games will be made available to purchase from mid-January, with the NFL set to confirm the date at a later stage.
International Series matches have been a resounding success in the UK since its inception in 2007, with average crowds for the 8 NFL matches that have taken place at Wembley Stadium since then exceeding 82,500
NFL’s popularity in the UK has grown substantially since then with a reported fan base of 12m people. There has also been a 30% increase in avid fans which is now up to 2.5m people.
NFL viewing figures in the UK have almost doubled for Sunday games while the Super Bowl audience has seen a 75% growth.
Participation in the sport at an amateur level has also seen a 15% increase in the UK since 2007.
