NFL: Minnesota Vikings arrive in London ahead of Wembley showdown

The Minnesota Vikings have arrived in London ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers at Wembley.

Both teams are still without a win and looking to kick-start their seasons.

The Vikings, a playoff team last year and this weekend’s designated home team, hope reigning NFL Most Valuable Player Adrian Peterson, can get back to last season’s success.

Peterson said he “felt pretty good” to be in the UK and that he was “looking forward to playing in front of some wonderful fans.”

Peterson rushed for 2,097 yards last year after recovering from a torn ACL in 2011.

Behind Peterson the Vikings won 11 games and advanced to the NFL Playoffs.

Facing the Vikings are the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have struggled recently after winning the Super Bowl in 2008 behind quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. Both teams are 0-3 but have come close to victory in their opening games.

Speaking at Wembley as part of the NFL’s Play 60 Campaign, Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph said “our goal is to be 1-0 when we leave this weekend.”

Rudolph called his experience in England “awesome” however he made clear that “this is a business trip.”

While the Vikings have already landed, the Steelers will not arrive until Friday with the hope of gaining a competitive advantage.
