No pre season for Rangers

Rangers have received yet another blow with the news that their pre-season tour of Germany has been cancelled at their hosts’ request.

The news comes just 24 hours after SPL sides voted unanimously against the newly formed club – created in the wake of the original Rangers’ liquidation -taking a place in Scotland’s top flight next season.

Ally McCoist’s men are regular visitors to Germany in pre-season and were due to take on Bundesliga 2 outfit Eintracht Braunschweig as well as lower league sides SV Rodinghausen and Armenia Bielefeld.

However, the tour has now been cancelled, leaving the Gers without any pre-season games.

Premier League outfit Southampton and French side Le Havre have previously withdrawn offers for pre-season fixtures.

“The Rangers Football Club has been informed by the organisers of our pre-season trip to Germany that they can no longer offer us a place on the tour,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

“The team was due to play three games in Germany between 18-25 July, but the trip will now not take place at their request.”
