Northern Ireland World Cup qualifier in doubt after bad weather
Northern Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Russia on Friday night is in doubt due to bad weather in Belfast.
Overnight rain and snow has left wintry conditions in the city, making the Windsor Park pitch a major concern.
With the Linfield stadium particularly exposed to the elements, officials will check the pitch at 10am.
The Irish Football Association released a statement that confirmed: “The referee (Norway’s Tom Hagen) will inspect the pitch at 10am this morning as part of his normal duty.
“We will keep you updated throughout the day.”
The snow has also forced the closure of the runway at George Best Belfast City Airport.
