Oscars dates for 2014 and 2015 revealed
The Oscars have been moved to March next year to make way for the closing ceremonies of the 2014 Winter Olympics.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has pencilled in next year’s ceremony for Sunday, March 2, 2014, with the 87th Academy Awards to be held on February 22, 2015.
AMPAS has also confirmed that the 5th annual Governors Awards will be held on Saturday, November 16 this year, and the Scientific and Technical Awards will be presented on Saturday, February 15, 2014.
Nomination voting for next year’s Oscars will open on December 27, 2013 and close on January 8, 2014.
Following the announcement of nominees on January 16, the final voting period will open on February 14, 2014 and close on February 25, 2014.
This year’s Oscars host Seth MacFarlane has already ruled himself out of hosting next year’s telecast, and it was recently reported that singer and actor Justin Timberlake is one of the names in contention to host the 2014 Oscars.
