Rihanna signs to Jay Z’s Roc Nation
Rihanna has signed to Jay Z’s record label Roc Nation.
The singer has left her first label Def Jam, of which she signed in 2005, when Jay Z was President at the time and influential in the signing of Rihanna to the label.
Jay Z left his role as President of Def Jam in 2009 for Roc Nation, his own label formed as part of his multi-million-dollar contract with Live Nation.
Rihanna signed with Roc Nation’s management team in 2009 after parting from former manager Marc Jordan.
Rihanna’s artist profile on Roc Nation has been updated to specify that she is signed to the label and not just managed by them. The Def Jam website now features Rihanna in its “Legacy” section.
In signing to Roc Nation, Rihanna joins the likes of Calvin Harris, Alexa Goddard, J Cole and Jay Z himself.
