Russell Brand does Nazi salute at GQ awards

Russell Brand was reportedly thrown out of the GQ Men of the Year after party on Tuesday night after he allegedly performed a Hitler salute.

Brand reportedly criticised Boris Johnson for “making light” of the Syria crisis and allegedly performed a Hitler salute.

Appearing on stage to collect his Oracle award, the controversial comedian took a shot at the London mayor – who had just collected the Politician of the Year gong – and called out sponsor Hugo Boss’s links to the Nazis.

“Glad to grace the stage where Boris Johnson has just made light of the use of chemical weapons in Syria,” Brand started.

“Meaning that GQ can now stand for genocide quips.

“I mention that only to make the next comment a bit lighter because if any of you know a little bit about history and fashion, you’ll know Hugo Boss made the uniforms for the Nazis.

“But they did look f**king fantastic, let’s face it, while they were killing people on the basis of their religion and sexuality.”

Brand reportedly then saluted the crowd before alluding to Hitler by saying: “He might not know it [but] he’s flying off the shelves.”

The 38-year-old also described his Oracle award as “something that has recently been made up”, adding: “I remember when I used to get awards for shagging people and that.”

According to The Sun, Brand was later ejected from a GQ after party, yelling “Nazi sympathisers” as he was led away.

Brand yesterday (September 4) hinted on Twitter at the trouble his comments had caused.

He wrote: “GQ editor: ‘What you did was very offensive to Hugo Boss.’ Me: ‘What Hugo Boss did was very offensive to the Jews’. #GQAwards #nazitailor.”
