Sam Smith leads Brit nominations with five nods

Sam Smith leads this year’s nominees at the Brit Awards 2015 with recognition in five categories.

Smith is in contention for British Male Solo Artist, British Single and British Artist Video of the Year for ‘Stay with Me’, British Breakthrough Act and the MasterCard British Album of the Year trophy for In the Lonely Hour.

Ed Sheeran – who is already a double Brits winner – is nominated in four categories this year – British Male Solo Artist, British Single and British Artist Video of the Year for ‘Thinking Out Loud’, plus British Album of the Year.

Ed was clearly pleased with his nomination, tweeting: “Chuffed to be nominated for 4 Brit awards. Video of the year I public vote, opens at 10:30 tonight !…”

Newcomer George Ezra also scores four nominations, with Royal Blood in contention for three trophies.

FKA twigs and former X Factor live finalist Ella Henderson are nominated in two categories, while One Direction, Sigma, Calvin Harris, Clean Bandit, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, alt-J, plus Duke Dumont and Jax Jones also score a pair of nominations each.
